Ms. Jodi Hess-Student Assistance Counselor

Hello! I would like to welcome you to my page.  My name is Jodi Hess, and I am the Student Assistance Coordinator/Counselor at Ridgefield Memorial High School.  I am a proud Ridgefield employee for my entire 28 year career!  I spent the entirety of that as a special education teacher; in February of 2024 I transitioned to the position of Student Assistance Counselor.  

 

I have my BA in Special Education from Kean University, and my MEd. in School and Professional Counseling from William Paterson University of New Jersey.  I then received my SAC endorsement from Kean University.  

My main role is to address student needs related to substance use and prevention, mental health and wellness, social-emotional wellness, and related barriers to learning.  My responsibilities as a counselor include individual counseling, small group counseling, and crisis intervention and management.  

 

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and reading; I read 72 books in 2024! I love to watch my daughter play soccer and volleyball.
